Hi guys,

I today finished the engine Change on my 77 Clubman estate.

The car had a 1275cc Metro engine fitted. Since the Dropgears sounded a bit weared and I want to rebuild it anyways I threw in a engine that I rebuild some Time ago for my SPi Mini.

Now the Engine is a bit modified. Big Valve head, 1293cc, High Lift Rockers and straight cut clubman gears. Still has a Std. 63hp SPI Camshaft in it.

I use a 123 Ignition on the Car, paired with a HIF44 with an BDL needle and open K&N Filter.

All breathing out a Maniflow Stage 2 LCB.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what Curve to use and what timing I should set it?

I'm thankfull for each helping hand, since this is my first Mini with a Carburettor.

Best regards from Germany

Marc

I've found that the curses in the 123 don't suit the A Series too well at all, even with most modifications done. They may suit a very open chambered cylinder head with longer duration cams, but that's about it.

The CSI, which is a similar type distributor on the other hand does better suit these engines.

The 123 uses curves based on those supplied by me, they work very well with uk based fuel.

Curve 6 should work very well unless you have compression which is too high.

Thanks @ACDodd
But we're can I find the values of this curve? Can you please provide it for me?

My engine has large bore pistons with 0,40, I think that has some high compression.

At this point I have 3 issues:
1. first is that the car when is cold the room goes about 900 rpm but when the engine is warmer it goes to 1200 / 1300 rpm

2. When I try to stop the car and turn it off, after rotating the key to zero position, the car still works for some seconds with some strange noises...

3. With the config of the curve that I have right now, 1°,2° and 3 gear are fine. 4° gear is to slow to go to high speeds. For example at 3000rpm the engine goes @100/h, at +- 4000rpm the engine has a top speed of 135 / 140 km/h

I don't know if this values are good or not, but with the engine configuration it has, I has expecting more speed. And I think that the problem is from the curve that is in the 123 ignition

Can you help me @ACDodd?

Thank you,
Bruno
