Starting my new project today, a Triumph TR7 2litre FHC. Respraying it in the old TR7V8 works colours and Im going to use it on night Road Rallies, One thing I didnt think of was how expensive are the parts! £149 for a wing and £65 for a sill!!! :gimme: But I have had bargains! ebay as usual.

I did think of a mini to go rallying but when was the last time you saw a TR7? + Its British and built by the people who built the mini, So it has something in common :gimme:

Will Post some pics up tomorrow :gimme:

Some of the ravines are so deep that if you topple over, your clothes will be out of date by the time you hit the bottom.

Tony Pond rally quote from somewhere.

Cool another TR7 :w00t: Got any pics????

You planning on any mods at all? Personally a V8 is the only option in my view, as nice as the 16v Sprint engine is, but 200+bhp from it, isn't easy.

I've had two TR7's so far. A yellow '76 FHC. Pretty stock just an exhuast and tune. Nice car but the old rust bug got it good. I ended up ripping the rear axle off and tearing the bodyshell and twisting it.

I then bough a very original 1977 FHC 4 speeder.Pretty much one owner from new. I ran it for a while until I snapped a halfshaft. I then converted it to a V8.

It was then my DD while I was at uni and when I started working full time. Since then it's had a few mods done to it, including a full respray. It was used pretty much daily up until last year where I blew the diff up. Sadsly it's been sitting waiting for some more £££ to be spent on it since then.

Here's some pics:

Here some of the mods:
Rover 3.5 V8 with S1 unleaded heads
Fast road cam
Rally spec exhaust manifolds
Single bore straight-thru silencer 3" stainless exhaust system
Webber/Edelbrock 4 brl carb on an offenhauser manifold
Luminition
Electric fan
New shock/springs alround
Shore 70 rubber bushes
Anti-dive kit
Rover LT-77 HD 5-speed gearbox
3.08 axel
Half Roll cage
Cobra bucket seats with 3 point harnesses
Motolita steering wheel
Custom dash sections
US spec front/rear bumpers
Works rally front spoiler
EBC Pads & front discs
Alloys 15x6.5 with Michelin Semi-slick Pilot Sport Cup tyres 205/50R15

Currently pulls 230BHP & 219lb ft on the dyno

If you want a mean looking mother of a road car, I always though the Group 44 race car looked like a beast:

WAW! Now that looks mean! Nah no real plans for mine, Fitted a Roll Cage and buckets now and halfway through welding, must say ive done a top job on the front turrets. Need a sheet for the roof to cover the webasto sunroof and ill be ready for spraying! Ive got an eye on a Dolly Sprint engine, but ill stick with my 8v i think, How much did a V8 conversion cost?

My god! Wedge talk on a Mini forum? what is this sacrelidge? :w00t:

They are great cars to work on, once the floors are solid enough. And hope the headlight mechs don't go wrong!

The TR forums at the TR register and and warrington (I think... bookmarks oare on the other PC) TRs are pretty good and very helpful, although a little quiet. Theres always spares around on there too, so just post up and see what you can get. The good thing about TR7s over the other TRs, is that there's a distinct lack of snobbery when if comes to creating one that suits your style (I once had a guy shout at me for fitting a CD player to the TR6! :ermm: )

I sold my TR7v8 convertible to have room in the garage for the mini. to be honest, i never did like the styling on them, but it was a nice enough car. Its actually featured in the retro car mag as the guy that bough it was the TR7 registrar and owned a V8 race car too (the feature was on both).

Get them pics up! I want to have a look see if you have the hairy chest wig and medallion to go with it! :w00t:

If you need some parts I have some for sale.

-bonnet (good condition)
-boot lid (good condition)
-drivers door (damaged hinge, but complete inc glass)
-bumpers (front & rear, frame and caps/covers. So so condition)
-dashboard (good condition)
-engine (this was a recon unit from Robsport about 6 years back. It's only done about 6000 miles and ran very strong, never missed a beat. It's been sitting a while so could use a clean up and service, but looks pretty sound still, just grubby. Is complete with carbs and such)

Don't really want much money for any of the above, just more glad to get shot of it as opposed to taking it to the scrappy.

If you're after any other parts give me a shout, I might have it tucked away somewhere.
