Once my new 1275 is re-bored 20thou, lightly ported, stage 1 exhaust and SW5 cam added can I/should I use a standard clutch? 

I seem to have a mix of pre-verto (inertia starter and longer activation arm) together with a verto clutch with the little springs on the new engine.

My car is wired for the pre-engaged starter so I'd rather not have to re-do it for a separate solenoid and I'm considering a lighter flywheel.

I believe this means it's necessary to use a pre-verto clutch ? can I have a lighter flywheel with a ring for the later starter?

pre eng starter means you need a verto fly assy or a verto toothed ring on a early flywheel.

 

just get verto arm and slave and bracket or whole Wok assy. dont try mixing and matching too much.

My understanding is that you can't have a lightened verto flywheel, otherwise I would just use all verto and the pre-engaged starter that is already on the car?

You can have the pre-engaged ring gear put onto a pre-verto clutch. (I did)

 

I believe the pre-verto can handle power better.

you understand wrong.

loads of lighter and lightened Verto set ups out there.
Minispares do at least one. Med do a seriously lightened one.

so no problem.

Ok, thanks for that - so back to the first question - is a standard Verto clutch sufficient for the power the engine will produce? I notice that the Minispares lightened Verto flywheel has the effect of uprating the clutch?

Standard will probably be OK

But for peace of mind I would go with the upgraded and lighter one...kills 3 birds with one stone simples

With a verto clutch you need the short activation arm otherwise you won't get anywhere near enough clutch movement.
