If you're sure it's a spark then it can only be HT if it's electrical - 12v won't jump air. Check you plug leads.

Could it be static electricity getting generated by the friction on the oil seal and jumping the gap?

My first thought was you need a new earth strap, but could it will be static? could it be from the fan belt ?
12v won't jump as such, but will spark but not blue...could it be the timing pointer bent and catching...?

Most likely from Static Electricity. They are supposed to put enough Carbon Black (or other 'stuff') in the belt so this doesn't occur.

I would suggest changing out the belt as it could potentially be a risk.

i will change the belt and check the earth strap. lets see what happens. Thank you for all your help. This forum helps keep my mini on the road!

Definitely looks like no earth strap connection from engine to body - linked to your loose flywheel problem also.
