I've got a little 998 turbo mini that I built a little while ago and for the last couple I have been smoking it round as a daily. It's a little rough round the edges but as it's only a little low boost car for the most part it's been pretty reliable.
So anyway for the first time ever I decided to take part in my local classic car clubs London to Southend Run, which is a 50 mile run from east London to Southend and ends up as a classic car show, all booked a month ago for the run this Sunday. Low and behold two weeks ago my car starts huffing out blue smoke, oil dripping from the exhaust, oh dear. Took the turbo off and to no ones suprise there is a massive load of play in the shaft and it's passing oil straight into the exhaust and engine. So, ok, no problem, strip that, pay loads of money and order a new core. That comes, Saturday I put the turbo back together, was just waiting for a oil return elbow which was due today.
Anyway come out my house this morning, open the garage door, and my workmate bench that has been hanging faithfully on the wall for the last 5 years has magically fell off the wall and bounced off the OR quarter panel putting a large dent just below the window. It's then knocked over my mountain bike so the handle bars have put a big dent and scratch in the a panel and scuffed up all the drivers door. So now I have a non running car with a blown turbo and now various dents and scratches, which is meant to be taking part in a run and show on Sunday. Great...
I'm sure god is trying to tell me something.

Smashing week.... literally.

Are there any pointless dent removal individuals local to you that could work some magic for you?

Might be worth a try....this video below shows how even some deep dents, in this case on a modern MINI rear side panel, can be repaired, using the various Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) tools and skills to use them with no filler needed.

Quote:
"This MINI was a recent job, the customer called to say her car had been damaged by passers by falling/kicking the side of the car and leaving a hefty looking dent. The repair was done using only the latest Glue repair tools and a bit of skill!" Filmed to show you how the repair is carried out:-

May be worth a try, once I build the enthusiasm I'm gonna put the engine back together hopefully this afternoon if I get time then I'll attempt to mop the door off. The A panel I think I can pop it out, maybe a small skim of filler and I should be able to blow it over. As for the quarter I think the dent doctor may be worth a try, it's definitely not something I'm gonna be able to make good without some paint.

Remove the rear quarter trim card, pour a kettle of boiling water over the panel then pry the dent out by hand

Hi,

Decades ago a neighbour reversed into my Fiat 124 Sports Coupe and put a large dent in the panel between the front wheel arch and the drivers door.

Could not afford to get it repaired so left it as it didn't look to bad, there was no crease.

Some months later on a cold morning being in a hurry I did what you shouldn't do and threw a bucket of warm water over the windscreen to clear it.

Job done ice cleared windshield still intact and low and behold the run off warm water caused the dent to pop out and the panel was as good as new.

I managed to mop the door out and the a panel just got a small touch up over the scratch. I took the door card off the rear quarter and managed to pop out some of the dent by gentle pressure but I'm not gonna be able to do much with this.
Excuse the dirt, it needs a good clean 😂
