I seem to have to much rear brake bias,
I have 8.4" minisport front brakes and kad rear disc brakes with a wilwood bias valve but with that wound right out so least braking it still locks up the rear before the front, anyone know of more adjustable bias valve ? Or a way to solve my problem
Thanks

I'd say your rear wheel cylinders are too big. 5/8" cylinders would be suitable, but I would suggest no bigger than those.

dont take my word for it, but im sure you wind them in for less rear effort? Im not trying to be a troll !

ive got one on my bmw, but its wound fully open as its got abs, and if i turn the abs off for gravel i can wind the bake brakes off... But i dont do much gravel LOL!

whats the master cylinder?

I was wondering if different bias valves would close off the rear brake more than the 1 I have

Which ever way is less it's all the way I haven't driven it in a while but winter's here so fixing a few issues

i take it then you havnt had the set up working right ever? Its not just got problems now??

I dont know if you can get a better valve than the one you have, but have you had a look at the bake pads to see what they are doing? Front and rear... You maybe able to go down a grade on the rear pads and go from there? Or maybe the fronts are glazed up and your putting so much effort now into the fronts making the rears lock?

Sorry i cant really help, i dont know much about this set up...

I just finished my build towards the end of the summer it works just under heavy braking it will lock the rears and the pads are fine not glazed, I have mintex pads in the front maybe going for some ebc ones? What colour is best drive on the road but doing a few track days and Sprint events

ah i see! the guy to speak to then is Alan at http://www.questmead.co.uk/ will do anything to help you out.

I cant say what pads to use as my mini is road only, and my bmw rally car is completely different thing. The mintex ive used where good, the 1144, but i went to ds3000 and thought they where much better, but will goto performance friction pads next time.

All depending on budgets too...

i dont know what fluid you use too, but have a look at ate 200 blue, its amazing stuff at a low price, best fluid ive used...

If your having trouble with rear brake bias do you really need rear discs? Sounds overkill on most cars and it seems that the problem your having points to this.

4 wheel discs are fairly new to smaller modern cars and even then a lot of smaller cars still have rear drums.

The rear disc is not the problem my bias valve isnt adjustable enough, so need a old style Cooper s bias valve that went on the rear subframe

Don`t bother with EBC Greenstuff as they are utter tat and I don`t care who wants to argue. I have spent an absolute fortune on mini braking systems to come to this conclusion, the factory got the 8.4" set up pretty good out of the box.

Mintex m1144 pads for heavy use or genuine AP for road use. The standard pads are great on the road especially in a lightened car and take a fair bit of abuse to cook them, in fact if you do cook them on the road you really shouldn't be on it ;)

A MS72 valve should get you sorted on the rear as its adjustable, I fit them to all my cars.

DOT 4 or 5 fluid only if using an AP master cylinder.

Out of interest what is the advantage of the rear discs over drums if you have to turn them down to stop them locking up?  Just curious.
