Hi folks

I am trying to mount a 45A alternator off a 998A+ onto my 1275 A+

Is this mixture workable?

So i think i've got everything the right way round, but the pulley sits about 10mm behind the water pump and crank pulley.

The top alternator bracket is flush against the water pump casting (in front of it!).

Is it common to have to add a spacer between the pump and the alternator? Or is the alternator too small?

If anyone has any pics of alternator mounting parts it might be beneficial!

Thanks in advance

Jon

PS only trying to use it as its brand new and i dont have anything else. Thanks!

They don't usually line up bang on, but that does seem a fair way off. I've seen up to probably 6, maybe 8 mm, but at 10, I'd be fitting a spacer for sure.

There are 2 type of alternator bracket one for pre A plus units and 1 for A plus unit, make sure you have the right one. Also check you have everything assemble properly as that seems a long way out to me.

Whatever alternator you fit it is always to ensure the pulley is accurately in line with the other pulleys.
Use thin washers as spacers as necessary.

thank you gents, it is definitely the right bracket, it came off the 998 block and matches those advertised online for A+. It doesn't hurt to check though, so thanks!

i'll pack it out and let you know how i get on.

Thanks

The alternator mounts should be on the radiator side of the brackets.
