Suspension Banging Over Large Bumps

I now hear a loud bang sound when I hit a good size bump in the road.
Not sure if it was doing it before, because I have only just got it roadworthy.
It is a 1965 Austin cooper s.
Old looking hi Lo suspension, will I need to raise or lower the hi lo's or do you think it would be something else?

But it could be anything. From incorrectly fitted parts to loose or worn parts.
Or you are expecting more from your suspension than it will do.

Lowered Hi-Lo suspension with wrong length shocks/dampers that are bottoming out maybe?
eg. Spax dampers are available in standard length and shorter length for lowered cars, dimensions here:-

Also check all your rubber bump stops front and back are ok.

Was actually a combination of knackered shocker and poorly reconditioned radius arms

I would check subframe mounts / radius arms / etc all round
also when fitting did you prime the dampers ? (not sure if gaz dampers need this) -
hold them upright , push them thru their full travel , to force any air from the chamber ?
air in the damping chamber can make a loud knock

Checked over everything and all seemed fine
Decided it might be shocks bottoming out so changed the standard mounts to lowered ones and now all good
