Hi, I have just fitted a new yellow tag master cylinder and I can't get any pumping from it. Does it need priming or is there a trick to get it to go?

Often most new cylinders need to be pressure bled, a Gunson's EzyBleed is handy for this.

The need for this appears to be from the grease used when they are assembled, it often covers the ports and so little or no fluid gets from the Reservoir to the Cylinder itself. Once you get some fluid in to the Cylinder, it will go like smoke.

Thanks Moke, I have got it going now, but I have ran into more problems. It seems very strange but when I crack the passenger side front brake nipple, I get a squirt of fluid from between the two caliper halves. Obviously the seal in between has failed. I have never seen this before. The calipers are new. I wonder if this is the cause to my braking woes.

Not sure but I will be taking it off and returning it asap. It seems very strange it squirts out only when the nipple is open.

Ive seen this on Chinese non gen ones.
Ive also had new ones where the calliper pistons return in the housing, giving long pedals and a pain to bleed!
