Hi guys,

My 1974 mk3 mini came to me with a non-vacuum advance distributor. I am thinking of changing the distributor out to a mini spares electronic unit with vacuum advance. Are there any complications that could arise from changing to a vacuum advance dizzy from a non-vacuum advance dizzy? I assume i will need to run a vacuum line from the dizzy up to the vacuum port on the carb. But aside from that I just need to make sure that I install the new dizzy correctly and reset my timing.

Just thought I would ask before I go ahead and order the new dizzy.

Some of the 998 (and possibly UK made 1098) engines didn't have a Vacuum Advance from the factory.

Off hand, on the 998, this was done to reduce NOx emissions, on engines for some countries.

If the engine is Standard, then fitting a Unit that has Vacuum Advance shouldn't present an issue.
