I've started to strip the engine bay out on my Italian job project and started to remove the wiring loom. As I've removed the loom I've found a couple faults with it like corroded terminals which I think I be able to repair . I have found one super bodge job. The cables that go from the alternator to the starter motor have obviously fried at some point so someone had crimped in one piece of domestic 6mm cable that's got that hot all the insulation has gone hard.
On the excellent wiring diagrams Mike L has put of the forum it shows that my car had a fusible link between the alternator and starter . On the other wiring on the loom from the starter upto the rest of the cars electrics they seem to be still in place . It looks a relatively simple repair but do i need to replace the fusible links and if so where do I get them from ?
Cheers Andy

So reading that I would be ok replacing the whole cables and deleting the fusible links as my car is in a carb and has no ECU.
