Hi all

I have acquired a cam4810 unleaded cylinder head which I plan to put on my 1979 mini. There is no bypass on the head so presume it's off a metro. Do I buy a sandwich plate and run a hose from the sandwich plate to the bypass on the water pump or would this not be sufficient?

Thanks

Some  people manage without. The idea is just to get water circulating around the closed thermostat so it senses when the engine heats up better.

or drill out the hole. after checking that the bolt holes are there and threaded. if the holes are there but not threaded than they will need drilling and threads cut.

Thanks for the replies guys. When you say drill out the hole do you mean to put a bypass tube in the head or am I on the wrong track? Would the way I suggested work as that would be the simplest option? If my option isn't sufficient would a metro bottom hose with another hose coming off of it to the sandwich plate work?

Thanks

opps sorry miss read it. you dont need to do anything. just make sure the thermostat has the small hole on the side.with the wiggly thing in.

nothing needed to be done. no drilling no sandwichplate.  engine will warm up faster and the thermostat will do what it should do.

The water pump is 4 months old but a new pump without bypass is only around £18 so may just plump for a new one. Thanks for your help.

I just capped mine off with a short hose and a bolt in the end. Worked fine. No leaks.
