Hello all!

Recently purchased my second classic mini (a 1980 clubman) as a reward for bagging my dream job!!

She is largely sound inside and out, with only minor rust here and there, however I would really like to get the project moving but dont even know where to start!!

I am a fairly proficient welder and mechanically I can conquer most things (with use of the Haynes manual of course) but Im not sure what I should prioritise.

As I said before, body work is largely okay. Slght patches of rust here and there but nothing too major (HE SAYS!), Im sure when I pick away Ill uncover many different issues! Also, in a rush to show me the underside of the car and how well it has been repaired, the seller jacked the car up on a repair weld in the floor and has pushed a hole through the rear DS floor pan!

She runs beautifully, slight clutch based issue but nothing too major I believe! Managed to drive her 100 miles back when collected relatively trouble free!

There are slght issues with the electrics, however Im putting these largely down to a faulty earth somewhere as the issues are indicators not blinking, interior light blinking, one headlight not working dimmed etc.

Finally, there is an issue with the rear tracking. New subframe, the mounts are in tact etc so I would assume it a dodgy radius arm??

My question for you guys is, as a newbie, where the hell do I start!! I want to get the bodywork tidied up, clear a lot of the surface rust etc.

Budget wise Im looking at around 4K (although I know this probably wont be enough, Itl be more than enough to sort a couple of things out!!!

Thank you all in advance!!

C

You said this is your second mini? You're probably not a newbie. LOL I recommend you look at previous forums about where people have taken their vehicle for restoration and repair. Best of luck and welcome
