Quick question; does anyone know what the thread is for the gear knob?

I'm going to make a new one, but I don't know if I've got the right tap.

Ta.

Thanks, I've no idea if I have the right tap, but I suspect I don't.

What you could do is drill it out the knob you are making and put in a piece of rubber sleeve or pipe and let the thread bite onto that. That is what a lot of the after market gear knobs do. Another option is a small grub screw in the side of the knob.

That's quite interesting, why do they do that, it sounds a little lazy.  I'll probably just buy a tap as they're useful to have, but it's a good alternative.

my early Knobs have no thread, and there is just the rubber insert that grips on the thread. you still need to screw it on and off.
