Hello all!

I am new to the form and to minis... I just bought my first one for my wife's masters graduation present. It's a blast to drive but the ignition switch just blew. The only ones that i can find aren't the same one that I have. I don't want the new one because the new cowling will interfere with my legs ( i'm 6'5") Does anyone know of where I can get a new one, or one that is old but still working?

Thanks everyone for any efforts.

Looks like the early steering lock used from 71-75. What year is the car?

Best put a 'wanted' on the Mk1 Forum

Spin.... I emailed Somerford today and they had none, nore do they carry them any more. They said it was a Canadian only part and has since been discontinued. I have had this Mini for 6 months now and I only got to drive it for 1.5 months of that because of little things going wrong, This is the last thing (so far) and that's why I'm looking in to getting the same part.

Spraybeater... Do you have a link to his topic page? I looked and couldn't find it.

Carbon.... It was sold as a late 76-77 but so far nothing has been 76 and its all been 75 and older. So what age is it? well??? I don't really know.

If it's an electrical issue rather than mechanical then the rotary switch assembly should come off the end of the lock barrel with a little force.

Mine just needed the contacts cleaning after 40 years and now works as good as new.

but you may have a good chance of finding one through

the  N. American MG clubs/forums.  One guy to contact is John Twist

You could try these guys, based in the USA and they can have stock that's not listed on their website.
