Our new work pool car is a 1lt Seat Alteca. SUVs are totally not my cup of tea but this thing was pretty surprising. The way the power form the small engine just kept coming, was also surprising! Especially given it must weigh 1.5 tonnes ish! It has some kind of 2 stage turbo?

Anyway, I opened the bonnet and the thing is tiny!! Must fit in a mini. Anyone done anything like this?

Not seen that engine particularly, but the issue tends to be the height with a lot of these tiny modern turbo engines.

Il get my tape measure out! I'm sure there's a whole load of ECU stuff you'd neer to sort out as well. Wikipedia says over 110bhp from a 1lt!

SWMBO has the 113bhp 1.6 diesel Ateca and is very pleased with it.
Only reason we went for the diesel is that she does 20k miles per year.
It does have all the modern things like auto handbrake and stop/start engine which really pisses me off. I guess I’m old but I like to be in control of things like that!

Ford do a 145 version of the 1.0 Ecoboost. Also used in the Formula Ford cars with an ST turbo good for 200bhp.
And yes it fits in a mini. Theres a clubman estate with one in it.

I cant remember the numbers but its lighter than an A series from what I can remember.
I did look into it, but I dont have the fabrication skills. And the aftermarket ECU needed to run the direct injection etc is about £2k.

Just found it dry wight I3 1.0: 213 lbs (97 kg) from (https://en.m.wikiped...EcoBoost_engine) that with a honda transmission around 85 lb depending on which one you pick. It would still weight less then a A series (330lb) very impressive. If the weight figure of the engine is with the turbo install it even more impressive

Finding info on the weight is not easy on that one lol. This is old but have you guys seen this turbo (https://www.evolutio...anything-2.html) perfect for that dream of a quad turbo A series. Jk jk but it would be something interesting
