1990 Mini

Stock condition

998cc

The steering wheel in my mini has been having a shaking fit. The worse of the shaking happens while in third and fourth gear. It does calm down though as I gain speed, roughly it will be very bad at 25 rpm and once I hit 30 rpm it only shaking a little bit.

I am thinking it may be a fuel issue, as the mini does feel as though it lacks power once I third gear.

I would look to the wheels first; have you lost a balance weight?

Good luck

i would also suggest looking at the front wheels first before anything else, sounds like they are unbalanced.

Hope this helps

Have you got a steering drop bracket fitted?

If so, it'll probably be one of, or a combination of unbalanced wheels, excessive wheel/tyre run out and the drop bracket. I've just tackled this problem myself and removing the drop bracket help alot. I'm interested to try the DSN bracket to see if that is any more solid.
