Body

The car was stripped to a bare shell in 2012, and all body work carried out to a professional standard by classic mini bodywork specialist Altered Image Coachworks. The body was then given a full respray in its original colours, flame red with a white roof.

Engine & Gearbox

The car features its original 1275cc multi-point injection A series engine, which runs very well, and is incredibly reliable. It was given a health check by ML Motorsport in 2012 with good results. The gearbox feels tight and does not crunch in any of the gears, after being refurbished by Guessworks (a classic mini gearbox specialist) in 2016. There are also no oil leaks from the engine or transmission after all the necessary gaskets were replaced.

Full list of engine and transmission details:

  • Standard A-Series 1275cc MPi engine 111426 miles

Suspension

Nearly all of the original suspension components were replaced in the rebuild, and the car now features fully adjustable front and rear track, camber and castor geometry with adjustable Gaz dampers. Set up by a mini geometry specialist, the car handles like a mini should, but is also comfortable on longer journeys.

The brakes are firm and responsive, with a minispares 7.5” disc and caliper conversion kit fitted at the front. The rear drum brakes were also overhauled, and stainless steel braided lines fitted to the front and the rear.
