Fuel Pump Priming?

Best Answer Spider , 02 June 2018 - 08:24 PM

I never bother.

If the engine has a mechanical fuel pump and it's been re-built or sitting around for a while, it should be spun over with the plugs out to get oil pressure up before starting. Usually that's well enough to also fill the fuel lines.

Is it usual to prime the fuel pump and lines before start up when carb pump lines are empty after a rebuild?

I've had to fill the lines when the front has been up on bricks for a few months, then start the engine with plugs out just to get oil pressure
