I'd rather eat my own head :proud:

If you HAVE to have 6x9s (which isn't a great idea in itself, but I do somewhat see the reasons for their use in a Mini) then I'd stick with something a little more proven

Have a poke around here:

get some decent 6.5comps with your money.

much more for your money compared to 6x9's, and they're not just plain loud, they can handle melodic diversity and all sorts.

i think 6x9's as an all in one basic solution for some basic audio is fine.

There is nothing wrong with 6x9s in my opinion, once you get past the chav image.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the quality of those speakers, although they would sound best running off an amp (but that applies to most speakers).

My main issue is that fact they are a very obvious attraction to such pikeys :proud: Staring up out of the rear windows is hardly a subtle place to put a speaker. They do offer more bass than 6" coaxs, that is true

I know OEM placement is non-existent in a Mini, but a thief is less likely to notice front speakers hidden behind grilles etc. Plus components offer you more flexibility in how you build your system (if you can get over the extra effort involved in mounting them)

That's true, it's very simple to build a wooden stealth cover for a mini rear parcel shelf tho, one which is simply held in place by the shape of the rear window and the seat back.

There is no doubt components are better but with limited space and budget in mind 6x9s are a good compromise :proud:

How much do you want to spend?

Have you considered running them off an amp, would make a huge improvement to sound?

I have mine amped from a sony amp I got for £7 on ebay and they sound much much better, even though I was running them from an Alpine 9812RB headunit before.
