Just got the new engine in, which I will report back on in the original thread soon.

I need to get it set up on a Rolling Road, does anyone have any suggestions of a good company with Rolling Road facilities in West/South West London, or Hampshire / Surrey / Berks area?

Thanks.

Thank you very much.  Someone suggested I run the engine in for 1000 miles before tuning, is this right?

Not really. If its running way lean or rich you ll damage the engine. Best thing is to tune it 2 times, once on the initial start, and then after its ran in.

yes my local rolling road suggest that - dont know about others but i think its to do with allowing everything to bed in.

As long as the timing is right the rolling road can wait a while.

Also remember to re-torque the head after 500miles or so, i didnt and ended up with **** flying everywhere and leaks/.

I can’t help with a RR unless you fancy going to Slarks (about 80 miles from you) who I use. But I would suggest getting the RR booked ASAP. If the engine has not been set up properly already it may well be damaged before it’s run in. I speak from experience sadly.

As above, I've destroyed an engine due to it running too lean, an expensive lesson learnt.

Thanks for all the replies.

So it is running too lean, it probably needs a new needle, I’m toying with the either popping a new needle in and running it in or just taking it straight to Slark’s before running in.

I’ve been reading up on needles and I currently have BBP needle and I clearly need one that will make it richer, so perhaps a BDL.

Anyway here is the spec, what does everyone think?

1293cc
New larger 35.6mm inlet valves
New exhaust valves - size not changed
Fully balanced
Newman Cams 270 billet cam
10.5:1 compression
HIF44 1” 3/4 Carb
Minispares Alloy inlet (not heated)
Maniflow LCB
Playmini Stainless exhaust
Electronic ignition
Standard Air filter

Stuart at VMAX thinks BCE may be too to rich for my set up, so have ordered a BDL, will see how it goes. I will take it there for tuning soon.

Question about the air box, I am running the metal version of the below airbox, and I had been running without the extra pipe circled in red, what is best, to leave that pipe on or off?
