Hello,

I will replace my actual distributor with an 123ignition programable but before everything I want to compare the preset curve in the 123ignition and the curve and the original one.

I cannot find it either on google or technical books I have.

Do you have any idea where I can find the curves ?

This is a 92 cooper. I'm sure it's an electronic one. Here are the refs :

Thank you.

Pointless excercise. The curve contained in your dizzy now does not match that which the manufacturer I installed when new. Wear determines the shape of the curve you now have. To compare. Simply measure what your dizzy is doing now, using a strobe light.

I will really appreciate :)

The curve I have in my 123ignition dizzy is :

Capture.png

The datas I can get from Autodata are :

  • 10-14 degrees at 1520rpm
  • 20-24 degrees at 4840 rpm
  • 22-26 degrees at 6000 rpm

And both does not match at all, so the curve programmed is completely wrong.

I'm not able just now to 100% be able to confirm these figures for the Original Distributor, however, they will be very close and should give a starting point at the very least;-

These are all Distributor Numbers (double them for Crank Numbers);-

Centrifugal Advance;-

940 RPM     2.50

1420 RPM   4.00

2670 RPM   7.00

3120 RPM   8.00

Vacuum Advance;-

Starts at 3"/Mg

Finishes at 12"/Mg and gives 12.00

Did you get this sorted?

I've got a BOC fitted with a Cooper Carburetor & the original distributor, I reckon my timing is all over the place because of the vacuum advance. Does your distributor see full vacuum @ idle? I'm pretty sure this isn't right for my car, so I was thinking about a 123 distributor to sort it. Are they any good?
