I know this must have been covered before, and yeah I did use the SEARCH button. But after reading a handful of posts I still didn't quite have the answers I was after.

1. Late 1970's Clubman GT, what size are the standard brake discs? I seem to remember reading 7.5" but I'm not sure.

2. How easy is it to fit larger discs? Didn't the later Mini's have 8.4 disc or something? Would I have to swap calipers to do this? And would 12" wheels clear them ok?

3. Are vented discs available? What calipers would be needed?

4. How good are the 4 pot brakes? I mean are they really needed, or for road use will just a good setup of pads/discs and high temp brake fluid be just as affective.

I'm after good brakes that won't get cooked or over heated for spritied road use, however I'm not want to spend hundreds on a fancy brake conversion either.

Thanks. :proud:

Not sure about number 1
From 1984 all minis got 8.4" discs with 12" wheels so yes they will fit and no, not expensive!
You can get vented discs to suit metro turbo 4 pot calipers which is a good upgrade that won't cost you £££'s, picked up second hand cheap and recon'd yourself or with a company such as Big Red Calipers for approx £70/80. You can also buy them on ebay, i contacted a guy (bluedon2000) that would sell me a pair (brand new recon) for £75!
Given your proposed power output, it might be wise to upgrade from the standard 2 pot mini caliper that was intended to deal with a lot less power, although well maintained they are still a good brake!
