i'm having a bit of trouble fitting the shoe return springs on a front drum brake set up. (twin leading shoe/ later type)

we are using front mini drums on a model steam truck that we are building at work.
have bought all the bits from mini spares but we can't seem to get the return springs in the right place.
they just don't hold the shoes tight ???

anyone have a good photo of the front set up (all the manuals are really dark).
we don't know if we have the right springs either. their seems to be a difference in the ones available ???

any help would be appreciated.

(thanks in advance)

i believe one shoe goes the other way up. look at the holes, and make sure one is upside down compared to the other.

ps Foden made the best steam lorries :w00t:

thanks for the help, but we seem to have different springs to the ones in that photo.

the ones we have got only have one "spring/coil".

any way, after a lot of head scratching we found a photo that just gave the game away.

it seems that the loop on the end of our springs "pushes" into one of the holes instead of "clipping" onto it

thank for the picture any way, much appreciated
