I have a 93 sprite that I have been rebuilding the engine on. I have come to put it back together and noticed there is no flare on the end of the oil filter pipe and was wondering how on earth this seals and the pipe can literally be pulled out of the block when the nut is tightened. Has a flared end fallen off of the end of something?
Regards
Remy

they should have a olive on the end but no flare, however they can pop out of the engine and dump your oil.

It was a money saving thing by rover apparently.

I swapped my 93 sprites to this for piece of mind

If you clean it very, very carefully to remove all oil, and then run emery tape round the pipe and through the olive, the olive back can be soldered back on.
