A friend once told me "if you didn't have a gauge, would you worry about it then?" and since it doesn't make funny noises, use/burn oil etc maybe I should stop worrying about it!  :D

I gotta say, I gave up with Worry Gauges years ago.

These days, apart from a Speedo, I have a fuel gauge so I can see how hungry the car is and a clock so I know when it's time to eat!

In all fairness , it doesn't use any oil or make any noises and it goes really well, maybe I am worrying about nothing

You do say that you were getting more pressure when I first started using the car and its got progressively worse.

And slight gold mist in the oil on the last change, Are you using orange clutch diapragm spring by any chance?

Not quite a worry-free situation in my view. Others may differ.

It does sound to me as if it needs investigating in case it is going to damage the engine.

A precautionary strip down at this stage is, in my opinion, a good investment. You can inspect and measure everything and see if there is a problem.

Lately there have been some 'iffy' oil pumps. I had a new one which I fitted to a 998 but I couldn't get any meaningful pressure. I took the engine out, stripped it and fitted a new pump. Bingo, 80 psi cold immediately.

I, too, don't like the sound of a gold mist in the oil.
