I have a set of each type of rocker is there any benefit in using the pressed steel opposed to the later sintered type in a 1275 A+ engine?

there is little between them but as set of pressed ones with a bead of weld down the spine and stronger.

but it all comes down to condition. bearing play and more importantly the wear on the tip.

Pressed are a better rocker, they have a better ratio than the sintered rockers and can be fitted with off set bushes to further increase the ratio, though, by the time you go to that trouble, you may as well buy higher ratio rockers. Be aware too, there's small bore and big bore pressed rockers, either type will be fine on a small bore engine, though only the big bore types can be used on a big bore engine (or head to be specific). The Big Bore types can be identified by the shape of the rocker pad, being oval in shape.

The Sintered Rockers are (despite some information) very good, quite strong, and unlikely to give trouble. They were probably about the best of any factory rocker, it's only their ratio that lets them down.

Thanks for the replies, they are oval pad ones that I have,I take it that the wear limits would just be a visual judgement as measuring it would be difficult?

You can see when the rocker pads have wear, I've never measured the wear in them, however, with just about all rockers, when the pads do have wear, they can be dressed again.
