Hi guys. The description for output shafts for pot joints (dam3114) say they are for rod type gear boxes. I have a remote type. How does it matter? Thanks.

It doesn't.

I'd guess that maybe in the blurb (where ever it's from) as the Pots were fitted to the Rod Shift Boxes, but not factory fitted to the Remote types.

The only caveat I'll add here is that they do not directly fit the remote boxes that had the steel Cooper S Type Uni-joints fitted, but even then, it's only a matter of swapping over to the diff side covers that were intended for either the rubber Uni-joints or Pot Joints.
