So got a weird issue, swapped the two clock in front of the driver to the centre binnacle, bought a second hand unit so obviously not guaranteed to work, but fitted it with a new cable from minispares and the speedo worked fine for maybe a week or so, then started being really odd so it would stick at a certain speed and wouldn’t move, then it would vibrate quite rapidly and jump back and forth within say a 10mph range each way so 40-60mph, eventually after a few days the thing stopped working all together, so assumed it was just a dud speedo, but the mileage kept going up so something obviously was still working, so the weird thing bought another speedo and did exactly the same thing so the question is has anyone else experienced this? And is there any reason it would do this? Thanks

Hi,

I think it's the speedo cable, more specifically the inner is a little too long and pushing on the mag mechanism.

It may be due to it not seated properly in the gearbox end.

Cheers  >_<

Ah okay so if the cable is the correct length it should work okay? I’ll have a little play tomorrow and see if that’s the case

Hi,

It's just a guess from what you've said, I've no firsthand experience of the problem myself.

Cheers  :proud:

Had a look this morning, the inner cable is definitely too long sticks out about 3-4mm longer than the outer and needs to be forced to get to fit to the speedo, didn’t realise that when I first fitted so I’ll have to look at getting a new speedo cable and hopefully speedo number 3 will work
