As title, have fitted new gaskets to cleaned faces but still have oil leaks. Any tips to get these to seal well - should I be using some type of sealant?

If you over tighten them, they'll warp and leak. Or if they've previously been over tightened.

Have new bolt seals, they are leaking from the lower edge I can see oil on the block below. How tight should they be.? I did not Crank them mega tight.

Not very. Factory manual states 3-4 lb ft. So outside the range of a typical torque wrench.
