without knocking out wheel bearings, do people just use spacers or can you use something else???

You cant, if you fit spacers or wider wheels then it will cause the wheel bearings to wear at an increased rate.

You can add spacers, but as mentioned above... it does increase wear on bearings, this wear increase will depend on how wide you go, and what wheels you're fitting, if you push whopping great spacers on and then put some stupid 13's on then you can kiss your bearings good by instantly lol.

You could always swap to Disk brakes on back, this gives you little more to play with.

but the same rules apply, and to be honest.... there's proably easier ways, some wheels have enormous offsets, basically off set is determined by where the centre of the wheel is. If it was positioned right on the face of the wheel you'd have wheels that sit flush with the body arch. Big offset is when you have the middle of the wheel right at the back of the wheel, giving a big dished effect and pushing the wheel right out.
