Earlier in the restoration (by earlier, I mean errr... in 2011?) I changed all the right A post and the flitch panel. I'm fitting now the door check straps to see if it fits and it doesn't let the door close. The strap quickly runs out of space to move and stucks in the A post slot.

What are my solutions? Moving the A post slots is out of the question I think. Should I make a hole in the flitch panel to make space? Or could I mess with the strap itself?

Thanks

That's the best it can close...

Try turning the strap over, it looks like it will angle differently

I tried. The only angle the strap has is the kink at the clevis hole. I've put it upside down and it's the same thing.

Also, the two check straps I have are identical.

Hi,

It looks like the internal piece is in the wrong place?

It looks like it needs to be more towards the center of the car so the check strap will also clear the big hole it's currently catching on.

Hi guys I solved the problem by slightly modifying the check strap. Nothing a grinder can't solve!

Now it fits and the door closes.

Hi,

Well that's definitely an easier way to get the same result!  :proud:
