With pot holed roads, some support from the top lamp to the car doesn't come amiss.

I brazed a large and a small washer to either end of a length of 1/8" wire, using the bolt that holds the bonnet catch.  A friend flattened a piece of 3/4" copper water pipe and pop riveted it.

I have one in the shed. It was fitted to a Mini of mine some years back. Have lost the fixings but they were just bolts with the heads rounded off to fit into the bottom of the bar. Mine seems good quality but could do with a lick of paint or powder coating or whatever. It is in the way and I have been meaning to get rid of it for ages. You can have it for the cost of postage. Actually have the lights that went with it as well. They are a Cibie Oscar spot light and two Cibie driving lights (I think). They are not in brilliant condition but quite usable. At least they were when I last came across them :-) If interested in the lights I would have to work a price out for the them. Can PM photos at the weekend of anything. Hope I am not breaking any forum rules here.
