Hello All,
Not a regular poster but avid reader which helps to find the solution to most problems...
Ref: 1967 (registered) MK1 850 which had been garaged for 25 years until I got it started and bought it, a few weeks ago... verifiable 39k miles only!
Unbelievably, almost no rust, original sills and paint, near perfect interior, no modifications apart from a radio and hazard warning flasher. Why not I thought...
Anyway, yesterday I hired a hydro elastic pump to get the ride height back up to normal, it was holding pressure but about 60mm low on each side.
Well let's get to the point...
The car started to lift an inch or two and then pssssst...a small fountain of fluid sprayed up out of the front passenger side displacer!
After much cursing, knowing that the displacer units are rare as hens teeth.
Pumped up the other side gently without problems...but for how long???
The leaking displacer unit came loose quite easily, and when the top suspension arm is out (this evening), it will drop down.
BUT how to get a new one or get it repaired???
The joint where the hose enters the displacer has split ( where they usually go apparently)
I have started looking across the internet without any success so far and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction or give some ideas.
I know they are very hard to obtain but hopefully not impossible?
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Andrew
