Thanks for the advice on here.

 

After a bit of heat, a lot of penetrating oil and some swearing I got the clutch plunger out of my 998, 1989, City E.

 

It looks alright though. Because it has been stuck fast for a while and needed a lot of encouragement to come out should I just put a new one in anyway?

clean it up and have a look. if it is really worn then the "wok" is also likely worn.
