Hi all,

Fed up with the spare wheel banging around in the boot on bumpy roads, I bought a Mk1-style spare wheel clamp. It arrived yesterday, and the boss which fixes to the boot floor isn't pre-drilled. Am I to assume it was glued to the floor? Contact adhesive or Araldite might do the trick. Or should I drill and bolt it? Or some self-tapping screws?  Just curious to know what others have done.

Here's the two-piece clamp : http://www.minispare...ic/14A6511.aspx

cheers,

Ric

Ah OK. I think I'll glue it. Welding isn't feasible for me. Thanks!

So how did the adhesive option work out? I was thinking of doing the same. Did it work?

Only becuse I don’t want to drill the floor and I do not have access to a welder.

I marked the location with a felt tipped pen, took it to a body shop where they welded it to the boot floor for me.  Only consideration was to cover the tank with a fire proof blanket.  They liked the car, so "no charge".
