What makes you say that ?
The price and hole in the bonnet are big
The carb is a fantastic instrument, which works extremely well, and I will run mine on the old tweeked 970 +060 S next time.
and it can be used on any other A series above about 90hp to great effect

All the Dellorto duals whether downdraft or sidedraft or even trijets are the same physical size .. just the throat size that differs 36 / 40 / 45 / 48 ... and I’m told they made a 52 but never seen one of those in the flesh.
46Weber downdraft IDAs are very rare beasts .. AFAIK they were fitted mainly to Ferraris
48Weber IDAs more common in fact still made today in Spain with new tooling.
Unfortunately the Spanish carbs are considered inferior to the Italian Bologna made ones although I think the Spanish ones have a better progression circuit which is more suitable for road use (Italian ones were designed for racing and only had 3 progression holes which meant they couldn’t idle very well and worked best at high RPM)
IDAs are Huge !!!
My question was more about throat size as opposed to physical dims.
Smallest I’ve ever choked a pair of 48 carbs back to was 37mm which “kind of worked” on a 1600 VW beetle

The Manta 400 had twin 50 Dcoe's
What you considering the DHLA 48 to go on ?

more recently the tuning trend in a/c VWs turned to draw thru turbocharging so carbs of choice were modified sidedrafts with improved seals as D/T systems had raw fuel sloshing around inside both carb and Turbo .. lol.
I don’t do that now but kept a few pairs of Italian IDAs and some DHLAs
Am trying to re live my past by building a fast mini .. kinda favouring the original look of twin 1 1/4 su s and have bought a set of scrappers and re built them (for £10 lol) but that limits the level of tune.
Thinking about other options.
Havnt sourced a motor yet.

Sell the twin 1 1/4s and put the money into a good head
Twin HS2 are only of real use on an original Cooper or S
In standard form they only flow 111 cfm which is chronic 1950's tec
Minus the spindle area they are only 1088mm sq compared to an HIF 44 which is 1168mm sq
Build a 1330 with a good head and cam and make use of the IDA some would kill for one

interesting comment.
I plugged the inlet ports of an S head, and funneled the IDA from the top of the rocker cover, down between the rockers on a 1,000cc.
It looked great, sticking out through the bonnet, and with a 648 on the track, it went well.
As a road car with a 544, there wasn't enough gas speed until it came on the cam, and with a 731, it rather spoiled the point of it all.

Don’t know anything about mini cams (yet) but tlhat’s about what I would have expected using an IDA on a mini engine..
