Hey there everyone. I recently converted from a standard fuel tank to the MPI fuel tank, and I am having trouble locating the proper nuts to secure the fuel pump assembly to the tank itself.

I tried using 1/4"-28 NPF nuts which seemed to work but then they started stripping the threads once tightened. With this, I also tried metric with a 6M-1.0 nut, and it was too small. Tried the 7M-1.0 as well, and it was too big.

Does anyone have any info as to what the thread pitch / size for the 6 nuts are? I have ran to different hardware stores and cant seem to find any solution.

Thanks!

NPF? Never come across that thread form.
I’d expect them to be UNF

Are they not metric, most newer parts added over the years have metric fittings

This has been resolved. To confirm, the correct nut size for this applicaiton is M6-1.0. Preferably with a flanged end.

The reason why it seemed like the M6-1.0 originally did not fit was because there was a significant amount of paint on the threads from the manufacturer. With the heavy coat of paint, the nut originally seemed too small when tightened by hand at the hardware store. Once I used a wrench, the paint was properly shaved off.
