I think that would be very unulikely to be the case, even more so as it's only October and we haven't even had a frost yet.
Likely cause - a hill?

If the car is deffo in neutral, but is creeping forward when on seemingly flat ground it can be:
The ground aint actually flat, you are on a slight hill,
The car aint in neutral,
or, as the engine revs, the gyration of the flywheel transfers into a slight rocking motion of the engine/car, this translates into slight movement of the vehicle. Like when they rev a car engine in the films (always at the start of a drag race ) and the whole car rocks side to side.
hold yer arms straight out infont of you and hold a bike wheel with your hands on either side of the axle and get someone to spin the wheel. You'll feel the wheel either get heavier or lighter (depending on which way they spin it). Same sort of motion as the flywheel spinning as the car is revved.
Just my guess (assuming the car really is on flat ground, in neutral).
Is there a tail wind too?

i would just like to point out that i was working on this assumption as well!! It sounded like Feeble was saying it happens all the time, whenever idling in neutral (i can't imagine the traffic part made much difference-only of course he was getting propelled along by the exhaust fumes rushing around the side if his car from the car in front and being sucked into the resulting low pressure area in front of him??)

Honestly, I couldn't believe it myself... When I am sitting in traffic, all I have to do is get the car moving ever so slightly, then if I take it out of gear completely, it will roll along by itself, and gain speed! Even slightly up hill! I am not making it up!
Does the fact that when this happens I have only come of of the motorway two minutes before have anything to do with it?

have u got an exceptionally powerfull engine?? exhaust could be blowing you along!! or maybe just the hamster could be running stil after being disorientated by the motorway trip!!
