Tips For Fitting The Crossmember To Inner Wing Bracket

I am fitting the crossmember to inner wing bracket. Is there any tips people have for getting it on.

Welding usually makes it permanent....

Sorry I was not very clear and tips for getting it held in place before welding to test fit the wing as clamps would get in the way.

I normally use skin pins to hold it in place then six to nine 1/4" plug welds.

This is the old one out and you can see there were nine spot welds

Where the small return fits against the inner wing stiffener plate, that was plug welded from the other side of the inner wing. Sorry no pictures of that.

And looking at the picture there were originally seven or eight small spot welds that attached the small return to the inner wing stiffener plate.

 

And these would have been the pins i used to attach the bracket to the crossmember

the way above is the better way but you can use these tec screws if that is any help?!

Yes I agree with using the self drilling tec screws. Easy to weld up the screw holes at the end
