I went for a drive in the mini today. Indicators was working fine, then all of a sudden they stopped working.
When I indicate the flasher relay is clicking really quick but nothing is flashing. The hazards working fine with all bulbs flashing and relay clicking at normal speed.
I can't drive it obviously until I fix it, grrr.
Thanks for any help.

Usually that means you have a bulb that's out. The change in load makes the flasher malfunction. Is it the same both sides?

All bulbs are working fine, as the hazards are working as it should.

Check your wiring, especially in the boot, grounds included. Double check that when it's flashing quickly nothing is flashing so quickly that it's hard to see. Leave the indicator on while you wiggle the wires around. Lucas bullets aren't the best connections.

Don’t know what year and model you have but under the bonnet on the left hand side (drivers side) do you have 2 relays on the inner wing if so the front one is for the indicators, take it out and replace it with the one next to it if your indicators then work it is a faulty relay so you will need to obtain another. The one you take out ie the rear of the two is for the horn if my memory is correct.

Thank you guys for your replies. I think redruby you are on the right track. I have a 1992 988. Under the bonnet where you said I have only relay (yellow one). On the other side near the wiper Motor is other yellow one that looks the same, so I swapped them around and the indicators started working. So I swapped them back and they still work, mmm mystery. I can goto bed happy. Out of curiosity, what is the other relay near the wiper Motor?

Thanks a million again.

Not so much of a mystery probably the simple act of removing and replacing cleaned the contacts. So may be wise to take the indicator relay back out at some point and clean the contacts on the relay and the relay holder. Not sure about the relay near the wiper motor without getting the manual out mine is an SPi and has two one for the lambda sensor and one for the electric fan.

Indicators only have to work if they are fitted.

If you remove the bulb and the lens, it is perfectly legal to drive, using hand signals.

Isn't that how all BMW and Audis work .. except the lack of hand signals as they are too busy holding their mobiles! :gimme:

You have to have indicators on Renaults, because the electric windows don't work.
