Detent Stuck In Synchro, Any Pointers?
Best Answer PiG , 10 February 2019 - 01:34 PM
The item was soaking in parrafin overnight with all the other parts for cleaning.
I got it out and pressed it down this morning and it popped out, thanks for the idea.

As per the title, rebuilding gearbox and cleaning everything up currently.
One of the synchro has a ball bearing stuck, can't get out of with a pick it anything. Synchro is darkened in centre so guess it's been getting a bit warm in there.
No problem I thought, I'll get a synchro out of the spare gearset I bought a while back for parts just in case.
Guess what, that one of exactly the same!

Often they are just gummed up and soaking them in petrol or paint thinners does the trick.
They don't really burr over or if it has, then don't use the hub.
You can also get an angled pick in the back, up through the centre.
