It was only in the 2000s that the DVLA realised they could make some money from this, and officially released these registration numbers and sold them at auction.

So basically, he's got 3 ringers?
or some guy sold him three wrecks from the local scrap yard, told him they were in the film and he paid to get those restored.
Either way they aren't genuine, none of them are.

They are 3 random Minis he bought. Then he restored them to look like the Minis from the film . Possibly allegedly using one or two parts from the original cars. The registration numbers were then bought at a DVLA auction and legally transferred onto the cars as cherished registrations.
