I was wondering what are cons and pros and/or experiences with  kevlar hoses over silicone ones considering huge difference in price?

Kevlar hoses - on their own - are stronger and should last longer, but they are much stiffer and harder so the fittings they go on to need to be in good shape in order to be sure of getting a good seal.

thanks a lot...as always clear and straight forward.....will go for kevlar for 1/3 of the price...

I have the kevlar in my spitfire. They are rigid and in my eyes looked like an unfinished product. They just look rough but they have done the job fine. Probably 5 years old now with issues. My only complaint would be that the rough finish makes it harder to spot a potential problem.

For what you need them for, silicone is fine.

ahhh two totally different parts of a hose.

the Kevlar is the reinforcement inside the rubber.

the silicon is the material that has the reinforcement inside. now that reinforcement could be Kevlar but as it does not say so I would guess that it is not. But the main cost of the silicon hoses is the way they are made.

My doubt was why to buy silicon upper radiator hose for 30 punds Instead of same upper radiator hose with kevlar reinforcement for 10pounds, both in Minispares...so why to buy hose for the same purpose made of silicon instead of kevlar one that is 3 times cheaper ....is there anything super special with silicone hose that is worth of price.....I learned that regarding durability kevlar is very good but is not flexible as silicone one....and guess there is personal color choice with silicon...

A while ago I stuck my thumb through a 14 month old Kevlar hose from minispares.

I was replacing a speedo cable when I realised the hose was hard and brittle, a quick squeeze and pop followed by a call to MS who said for durability use silicone.....no refund as it was supplied 14 months earlier. The car had no issues to cause this very premature failure, maybe I had a duffer but once bitten twice shy.

I refitted a 35 year old original hose and its been on ever since, 45 years and counting.

I notice they are warranted for 2 years but its not very confidence inspiring.

This has a 2 year warranty from date of purchase, not fitment date as hoses all have an- "on the shelf life".

My advice would be to use the original genuine hoses or black silicone
