Hi everone. Probably been done to death but I still haven;t found what I'm looking for. There's a song in there somewhere.

I have a 1300 SPI. returned to HIf44 carb, Ported, relieved, bored out and fast cam etc. I'm looking to put a breather on the clutch housing/fly wheel timing viewing cover.

what on earth do I stuff the rubber end, of one of those lovely pretty K&N filters onto, which will bolt onto the cover bolts there?

There must surely be someone out there in 'Fleabay' land making a stub to fit?

Any hints? I'm sorry about this being abrupt but i have searched my A55 off and I have had enough. sorry,

All calm quiet helpful views gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Do you know what diameter you need?
I have an unused DSN one available , think it is 1” diameter

Thank you both.

Graeme, I am presuming you are asking about the stub diameter? isn't the cover plate a standard size?

I haven't bought a filter yet so I would imagine I could just get a filter to suit your one?

Can you PM me some details and I'll come across/pay for postage/talk on the phone?

I am just up in Penrith and I'm also out and about everywhere for my job.

It would be a shame to waste yours.

Sorry Moke Spider. quite right.

Not sure that retro sport breather is designed to just put a k&n type filter onto, you'll end up with an oily mess all over the engine. You need an oil separator as per the standard type factory breather. The one in the link is really designed to feed into a catch tank/seperator

Isn't there a standard catch can vent which bolts on upright from the clutch cover? In fact I've just seen one in one of the pics on mk1leg's ERA build blog

Call me naive, but am I really going to get oil out from the clutch/flywheel housing?

Is this not a just a balance hole? I did not envisage oil floating about in that end of the engine and housing.

Not something I have encountered before so please excuse my ignorance.

It doesn’t actually vent the clutch housing - it vents the drop gear area

I’ll get photos later and send you a pm

This is the open breather I use, as used on 1967 austin 1300, very difficult item to find these days.
It still uses a wire gauze for oil separation.
