Hi folks,

Couple of questions- firstly is there any difference between an injection rc40 and a carb.. length or shape?

Secondly is lcb with rc40 the best way to go? What bore is a standard rc40 aswell please?

Thanks in advance folks

The version normally used with carb models is longer and will connect directly to an LCB manifold for instance.

The version for models with a catalytic convertor is shorter and bolts on behind the convertor.

You probably shouldn't prioritise changing the manifold on an spi unless you have modified other areas of the engine a lot as the standard manifold is a sort of LCB type of design anyway and reasonably efficient.

A cat-back RC40 would be beneficial though to get rid of those horrible silencers.

The RC40 is a nice and sensible 13/4" diameter.  Inside diameter if I remember correctly.

Personally I'd get rid of the cat too... the car should still pass the emissions

Can you show evidence of that being legal.  I'm not saying it isn't but Ade-Cooper will need to be 100% certain when it comes to MOT time.  I agree though, get rid of it if you can, it'll smell like a proper car again.  You'll need to keep the oxygen sensor.  I'd say the most restrictive part of the system at the moment though are the silencers.

As long as it's pre MPI it is legal, my 1994 carb car has a non cat link pipe fitted, it passes every MOT. I simply say it's a carb mini, every pre MPI mini can pass without it.
