Hi all

On rebuilding the engine today, i installed a new primary gear from minispares.  I noticed when it arrived it was missing the 'lip' however, once after installation i realised this was the oil slinger.  It is present and serviceable on my old one, however i didn't put it on the new primary gear.  Am I going to face any issues? Or is it best to pull the gear off (utter pain in the arse) and fit it along with a new seal? Or if i use a primary gear puller, will the seal be ok to reuse?

My minispares primary gear doesn't have the flinger and its been ok, although my other one with a different tooth count I bought from them about 12 years ago does.

Sorry, the other primary that does have a slinger is an older non floating bush type. The newer one I'm currently running is a floating bush type without a slinger. No problems with either of them, just changed to get different drop gear ratios.

The early Primary Gears from the Factory didn't have a slinger, it was introduced during production about 65-66-ish due to issues with Oil getting past the seal.

With the latest Black Primary Gear Oil Seal, you will most likely be OK.
