They can be almost welded in due to corrosion of the contacts, try soaking in a penetrating fluid for a few days to see if that breaks the contact. A small screwdriver used gently to prise the multiplugs apart can work.

Still can’t get my head around how to remove the switch without breaking it!
I have tried on an old motor & broke the switch.
What am I doing wrong? Can’t see any mention in BMC Mini manual or Haynes manual. I tried levering it out, but as I said the switch is now broken and I cannot see how a replacement goes back in with that metal clip. Do I need to remove the drive wheel from the motor?

I have changed them in the past but I don't remember how.
Looks like you need to dismantle wiper gearbox.

It slides in/out. You may be trying to pull it out.

As mentioned, give it a spray of Plusgas/similar, then its just finger and thumb.

Good luck.

andyapanel, you say it slides out. Ah well, I levered it off which broke the switch! I was trying this on an old motor. I have a newer 2 speed motor which I wish to fit. I have been bench testing it but it does not stop & park so suspect there may be a problem with the switch which is why I want to remove it.

I suppose it can be done with the drive gear in place, but much easier with it off as you can see the clip and actually push on it instead of the plastic switch box. Sometimes the clips wiggle around as well.

Lift 'n slide - the metal clip is also an earth, without it the motor is likely to run on enough to close the switch again and keep going. Works exactly the same on 1 & 2 speed motors, as you can only get to off by first going to slow speed.
