Just a quickie question really. As per the title, are the scuttle closing plates essential?
I've got my front end off, and am ready to weld the new panels on tomorrow. But, i've just realised i don't have any closing plates for the scuttles. The question is, do I need to wait and order a set of closing plates, or can i just pop on my front end without them? Would I be dooming my scuttles to an early demise if i did the latter?
Opinions welcomed!
Are closing plates needed?

They are there for a few reasons…
Firstly they help support the scuttle holding it in the correct position, without then the scuttle does move a far bit. They also help throw the spray from the road wheel downwards and away from the scuttle, and with out them the scuttle would rot through very quickly from the wheel arch side outwards.
