As title says really, I'm using 10w40 in my auto clubman, to aid the gear changes. But she smokes slightly, and I have been advised to add half a bottle of Lucas oil stabiliser, to stop the oil burning. My question is, will the oil stabiliser be okay with the auto gearbox?

I'd say no, as the oil stabilizer will thicken the oil slightly

I think this thread refers to that product.

Personally, i wouldn't use it.

As I thought to be honest guys. I'm gonna run her down to Cornwall this weekend, will take plenty of oil and keep her topped up. Then when I return I've been advised to try 15w40 by guessworks. Will see how she goes. Thanks for your help!

Use products that are compatible with bike wet clutches.
